Peer Reviewer Process

JIK: Jurnal Ilmu Kesehatan applies a peer-review process to ensure the quality, originality, relevance, and academic integrity of all manuscripts considered for publication.

1. Initial Screening

All submitted manuscripts are initially screened by the editor to assess their suitability for the journal's Focus and Scope, completeness, basic writing quality, and compliance with the author guidelines.

2. Similarity Check

Manuscripts may be screened using similarity detection software to identify potential plagiarism or inappropriate use of previously published material.

3. Reviewer Selection

Manuscripts that meet the initial requirements are sent to at least two reviewers with relevant expertise in the subject area of the manuscript. Reviewers are selected based on their academic expertise and experience and must not have conflicts of interest with the authors.

4. Review Process

JIK: Jurnal Ilmu Kesehatan uses a double-blind peer-review system, in which the identities of both authors and reviewers are kept confidential throughout the review process.

Reviewers evaluate manuscripts based on the following aspects:

  • Originality and scientific contribution
  • Relevance to the journal's focus and scope
  • Clarity of research objectives
  • Appropriateness of the research methodology
  • Quality and presentation of results
  • Consistency between results and discussion
  • Quality and relevance of references
  • Clarity and quality of writing
  • Compliance with research ethics

Reviewers may recommend one of the following decisions: accept, minor revision, major revision, or reject.

5. Manuscript Revision

When revisions are required, authors are given an opportunity to revise their manuscripts based on the reviewers' comments. Authors should respond to the reviewers' comments and clearly explain the changes made.

Revised manuscripts may be returned to the reviewers for further evaluation when necessary.

6. Editorial Decision

The editor makes the final decision based on the reviewers' recommendations, the quality of the revisions, and academic considerations. The possible decisions are:

  • Accept without revision
  • Accept with minor revisions
  • Accept with major revisions
  • Reject

Editorial decisions are made independently and are based on the scientific quality and contribution of the manuscript.

7. Reviewer Confidentiality and Ethics

Reviewers must maintain the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and must not use information obtained during the review process for personal benefit. Reviewers must also avoid conflicts of interest and provide objective, professional, and constructive evaluations.

JIK: Jurnal Ilmu Kesehatan is committed to conducting the peer-review process in a fair, transparent, objective, and ethical manner to maintain the quality and integrity of its scholarly publications.
